Report about the 2nd international congress on the multidisciplinary management of pelvic floor diseases

Several different specialist attended the congress: colorectal and general surgeons, gynaecologists, urologists, gastroenterologists and neurophysiologists. great interest for the presentation by Dr. Giulio Del Popolo (photography) on the role of neurophysiological tests.
A session was dedicated to the future of simulation and training in pelvic floor surgery. I mention two presentations, the first one by Prof. Donato Altomare on the TAPE score. This score is based on a holistic assessment of pelvic floor dysfunctions. The present score is already published on Colorectal Disease ( female version and male version and it is available the download on PC and tablet.
The second presentation was made by Dr. Gianluca Pellino on the role and future of the social media in colorectal and pelvic floor surgery. He emphasized the importance of the web for both surgeons and the entire scientific community as well as for patients.
Thursday evening there was the social dinner at Villa Scorzi, beautiful location with good food and very pleasant pianobar.

The second day started with a very interesting LIVE SURGERY with four surgical procedures:

Another very interesting session was friday afternoon about the complications after Pelvic Floor Surgery. I mention two lectures, the first was made by Dr. Mark Mercer-Jones about the management of recurrences after mesh or resective surgery and the second was done by Dr. Francesco Cappellano regardin pain after POP suregry (PPOP). These are two topics of great interest.
In conclusion I can say firmly that it was a successful congress, with a high scientific contents, great international opinion leader and interesting and debated live surgery.
